One week and counting

As I ventured out for a morning run today I realized I only have a few of those left that I can do without a coach. For the past 11 mos or so I have been doing what I feel like. Sometimes (especailly lately with less sleep) I actually organize my thoughts before I head out the door to run. I think today I will do a tempo run or intervals. It is SOOOOO hard to do this without a coach. At least for me. Once I start running I realize I don't HAVE to do anything so I usually just end up running moderate to easy day in and day out. I think this is why most triathletes don't improve. You get stuck into a rut of what is comfortable and what you know. You head out the door everyday do the same loop and head home. There is never a challenge or a new workout to try. I MISS my coach. I cannot wait to have new workouts to do and check off each day. I am a task master. If there is a list of tasks for me then I am good to go. Bike, check, do laundry, check, feed kids, check, run, check, clean, check. If it is written down then I will accomplish it. My coach gives me what I need and what most of us need, structure! I think we thrive on it. I know as a parent now that kids thrive on it too. So here's to you coach, I can't wait to have intervals to do and rides to push!

OH, and to my hubby, Happy 5th Anniversary! You make it so much easier to do what I love to do: wife, mommy, triathlete, coach!

you couldnt have mentioned FIVE YEARS AGO that you need a list to accomplish things?? I should have saved the money on your anniversary present and bought you a blackberry with a mount for your aerobars. Happy Anniversary to the best wife, mom, coach and triathlete!!
