Random thoughts...

video

Yes this is me swimming. Sorry for the butt shot, I know it is not pretty. Nothing special except this video. I have never uploaded a video. Pretty high tech of me. Don't expect much. I actually feel like my swimming has gotten better with less yards and more strength training. I have consistently doing what Barb tells me to do every week with strength. In the past I usually ignored the strength work b/c I have no time. But now I make an effort to fit it in. I usually do a mixture of arm strength with free weights while balancing on one foot and cord exercises doing swim strokes. I really feel the difference!

I finally finished the indoor triathlon series today, yahoo! I think my HR was 250 on the bike today. I had to go to that happy place with my eyes shut just to get thru without throwing up. It was fun to have 2 clients in my heat too! They both did awesome! I think Amy almost kicked my ass on the bike today too! Nothing makes a coach so proud:)

I ordered a Quarq this week too. Isn't it gorgeous. Now I will actually ride with a computer on my bike. Much to anyone's dismay I have not ridden with a bike computer for 7 years or so? I just use my watch and or HR monitor on my wrist. Too much technology overwhelms me. But I know to go to another level as a professional it had to be done. Can't wait to see it on my brand new P3!!!! On the down side, I will actually have to be honest with how hard I am pushing myself. No more riding just by perceived exertion and time.

No news can be good news

Noah enjoying the hi -five!
I that fast that you can't even see me, ha ha ha.

My Monsters before a tackle.
The diva.

This can be the hardest time of year to train. We have been through a good chunk of winter but still have the tailend to go. Training for me has turned into gerbil runs on the treadmill ALOT and ALOT of biking on the computrainer. Since I had kids training for me has been 5am and sometime during the day. I had an epiphany sometime in the fall. If I get 8 hrs of sleep most days I recover better, I am a less bitchy wife, and a productive Mom. So I have been taking full advantage of the kiddie care at our YMCA and running on the treadmill. I miss running with Janeth but I knew once the sun comes up earlier I will get back to it. I have to admit not waking up to an alarm most days has been AWESOME and great for my marriage. Who knew spending more time with your spouse was good.

I decided to do the MITCS (midwest indoor tri series) this year. It is a fun and anaerobic training session with possible money. What the heck, why pass up a good barf session, right? And what I have discovered too is that Noah can run around the indoor track and hi five me on every lap. WAY better than racing outside when I disappear for hours. He loved it and now asks me about being an athlete. I have not done any anaerobic stuff yet so it was what coach called, 'blowing out the cobbies." First one is over didn't go bad. It was actually a ton of fun and a client did awesome. That was a bonus.

The kids are really starting to beat the crap out of each other lately. I have a feeling this is just the beginning not the end of this. To be honest it is usually Molly doing the hitting and then Noah following up with touching her every 5 seconds to tick her off. If I wasn't their Mom I would laugh. But because I AM their Mom most days I take a deep breath and THEN pull my hair out. They are awesome, and they are mine! That is the best part. Every now and then Noah pulls a one liner out of his tush. Recently he told me, "mommy I am going to marry Madison one day, she is perfect!" Then the next day we were watching a commercial when a blonde girl comes running out singing, Noah declares..."I change my mind, I am marrying her." Men must be visual from a young age? And what is with the blonde thing with my son? He is only 4.5 and it is starting already. He is still my baby.
Molly growls now. At anyone really. I have come to terms with no longer being able to shop at Trader Joe's with the kids. They have little grocery carts there for kids. BADDDDD IDEA. They each have to push one then go in different directions and run into everything. Then try to buy all things chocolate. It is a nightmare. I decided to give it a whirl last weekend with my Mom and only one child. Molly was actually okay for the first half of the store then her inner psycho came out. I finally got her to the check out lane and told her to get in line. She replied (loudly), "NO Mommy, GRRRRR" (as she gritted and showed her teeth). She actually scared me and probably some of the other people standing there. I picked her up left the cart with the groceries there and left. Attitude equals you don't get want you want. You may be cute and little but I am the boss. She is aging me everyday.
Next up on the schedule....POWERMAN ALABAMA. Crazy, yes, but a much needed race. I have a hard time training from November until the end of April with NO racing. Powerman is driveable and a challenge. Plus I get to try out my new ride! More of that coming soon...
